A risk-based approach to electrical equipment safety
Portable appliance testing can form part of an effective electrical maintenance programme. HSE guidance says inspection and testing intervals should reflect the equipment, how often it is moved or used, the environment and the results of previous checks. There is no blanket legal requirement for every appliance to receive a PAT test every year.
